The terrible, horrible, no good, very bad blogcationer

November 18, 2008

I am terrible at taking a blogcation. I have a couple more guest posters lined up and then I’m back at it all on my own. It must be this way or like I said, my head may explode. Taking a blogcation helped me to see how much I love to write. And even though life is busy, it somehow refuels me to read loads and loads AND LOADS of blogs. You people rock the party.

So many of you graciously offered to guest post, and here I am cutting the blogcation short and totally dissing you. (Yes, I just said dissing-because it’s 1994 and I’m totally awesome.) But, I’m keeping the list of all who offered so next time I need to run and hide under a rock, you’ll be the ones I’ll be begging to take over for awhile.

Do you know what you can do on blogcation?
You can file stacks and stacks of overwhelming paperwork.
You can clean out your storage room and get it all cute and organized.
You can read more books.
You can send random, manic get-the-junk-out-of-your-head emails.
You can de-crap your car.
(What? You guys do that stuff even when NOT on blogcation? Really? HOW?)
You can sit and stare off into space, thinking in blog posts without typing them.

I know, I’m so boring. Who needs to do any of that?

But the quality time with the husband and the kiddos? Pretty frickin‘ sweet! (back to 1994.)

I’m looking forward to blogging my face off again come Friday.

Today I broke my blog. So I need to give another shout out to Kim of Temporary?Insanity because she fixed it. She is just the most helpful lady on the planet (and an excellent blogger/writer).

Now bear with me as I put the sidebar stuff back together again. Like Humpty Dumpty…or no wait, he couldn’t be put back together again. My bad! (1997?)

Now excuse me. I’m off to my afternoon class. It’s called “How to Blog and Waste Time” and the instructor’s name is Sue. She’s an excellent teacher. Last week she explained how to make an uproar by bringing up the faults in the Twilight series and revelaing the truth about fake blogs. I’m all ears. Then tomorrow I have a class called Globbing 101. The instructor, Mary never teaches us anything except for how to be scared of the garbage and take your kids to Walmart after midnight. I love that class!

Yes, I’m still playing a game where I see how many times I can link to Mary and Sue. It’s fun. You should try it.

I agree – EVERYONE SHOULD TRY THAT GAME. :) Thanks for the links, you really shouldn’t have. (I’m only saying that to be polite, obviously. Because you TOTALLY SHOULD.)

Maybe I should go on blogcation so that I can get my blog mojo back. I’m running on blog empty right now.

Kim November 18, 2008 at 3:14 pm

Heather – you rock. That is all.

Kimberly November 18, 2008 at 3:18 pm

You make me giggle, girl. Love ya. And glad you’re back! Even though technically I won’t have time to read “for real” until December. But I’m here tweaking anyway so you get some Kim-ness in your comment box today.

Oh yeah. Rare commodity, this.

Will fix the header next week – promise! Really wish I’d had a copy of the final one. Ah well!

Sue and Mary are both so exceedingly linkable. And you can take the “n” out of that last word, too, if you like.

Can’t wait to have you back, Heather. And I LOVED the flashbacks in this post (which, of course, were only flashbacks because you tagged a date onto each one. People do still use them, you know. Even some normal people. I think.)

Heidi Ashworth November 18, 2008 at 4:01 pm

You mean, people decrap their cars? Even the non-bloggers? Because, really, what’s the point?

Kristina P. November 18, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Glad to have you back from blogcation!

Keyona November 18, 2008 at 4:08 pm

Whooo Hooo, welcome back…sort of. Did you really leave??

I’m kinda glad you did’t pick me to guest post, I kept getting sick hoping you didn’t email me and ask!

I will be ready next time though, even though I hope there isn’t a next time….

I’ll stop rambling now…too much caffeine.

Steph @ Diapers and Divinity November 18, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Rock on (1995?) Heather, you’re the bomb! (1998). Glad you got so much done. I’ll decrap my car in the spring when I don’t have to worry about losing limbs to frostbite in the process.

Glad you’re back. I missed your comments and jokes.

K and/or K November 18, 2008 at 5:03 pm

Welcome back home slice. What year is that?

Jillene November 18, 2008 at 5:12 pm

Welcome back!! I missed your posts. But I will have to say that I LOVE *Mary*! She is the 1/2 Japanese little sister that I never had. I get to hang out with her again on Friday–YIPPEE!!

Brooke November 18, 2008 at 5:19 pm

I have to admit, I’m glad you’re not a good blogcationer.

Becky November 18, 2008 at 5:29 pm

I knew you couldn’t stay away for too long!!

And you think in blog posts, too? Awesome! Maybe my husband won’t think I’m such a nut-job. (No, he probably will, he’ll just think you’re one, too.)

JustRandi November 18, 2008 at 6:02 pm

Ooo! I love links to Mary and Sue. And Kim too! Those are some of my favorite bloggers!
Glad your blog is all better now.

Peanut November 18, 2008 at 6:58 pm

Yay! You’re coming back! Lucky us :)

I took an unscheduled blocation too, except that I didn’t get any of those things done. Instead I spent a week taking care of a sick family and self. Not nearly as rewarding!

Lara November 18, 2008 at 7:36 pm

Welcome back. I’m glad you got a lot of things done, and no, it’s hard for me to do those things without a lot of forethought and turning my dang computer OFF. :)

Kazzy November 18, 2008 at 7:42 pm

Vacations are overrated anyway. There is always so much to do once you come back. :) But time with family is terrific. Hope you guys are all well!

What I’ve learned from this post is two fold. First, don’t bother trying to blogcation, it probably won’t stick OR (even worse) I’ll have to spend it dejunking my car.

I also learned that my vocabulary is still stuck back in 1994! Ack!

Braja November 18, 2008 at 9:10 pm

Just found your blog and firstly, thanks for the temporaryinsanity link, Kim is definitely worth finding…just making my way thru all yours :)

Abra November 18, 2008 at 9:19 pm

♫♫Yay so glad you got some stuff done!♫♫ I need to get some stuff done. I need a blogcation too…
You are way too funny!

*MARY* November 18, 2008 at 11:17 pm

Hey, sup chica?
I sluff Mary’s class all the time. She’s such a fart-knocker.
PSYCHE!
She’s pretty fly.

RosyRose November 18, 2008 at 11:34 pm

I think its time to get off your blogcation too:) Looking forward to hearing from you again.

minnesotamom November 18, 2008 at 11:51 pm

Hey Heather,

I gave you a blog award today, fyi. Sorry if it’s one you’ve received before, but it’s well-deserved. :)

Thanks for reminding me that I am so 90s! I already went through midlife crisis on my 35th this year – I guess I’m not completely over it!

I love the classes you’re taking! I’m off to take a few of my own this afternoon… Makes me feel real edified looking at things in this perspective!

Jessica November 19, 2008 at 9:09 pm

welcome back, and hope you are refreshed! don’t we all so miss the 90’s? (not) (that was pathetic, I know!) I’ll be looking forward to reading your posts again!
