Halloween and the magic of friends

October 31, 2009

Sunday~November 1st, 2009

They put on costumes, the kind that made them feel powerful
and brave enough to knock on the doors of strangers,
even strangers with masks and painted faces…

(well, okay. Sorta brave.)

They hurried from one house to the next,
less concerned with the fear factor
and more concerned with the treat factor…

(Superman, all covered in his coat)

They went to a Halloween party,

the kind that makes you feel like you bobbed for an apple
and got the biggest one…

with the best toys and the best view…

and good friends…(Liam, my friend Susan’s sweet boy)

Halloween is so much fun…

Thank you, Susan. You brought the MAGICAL
to Halloween this year.

(That’s Susan as Princess Leia AND as the Bumble Bee, pictured above.
Yeah, she rocks the Halloween party. You can visit her at Warm Chocolate Milk.)

Happy Halloween! (late)

Happy Halloween back at you, Heather!

I love the picture with all the kids in their costumes lined up on the couch! So funny!

Just have to say……our boys would get along quite well. My boys have each been Superman, and the youngest went as Luke Skywalker this year. Originally he wanted to be Yoda, then Darth Vader, but I finally convinced him that Luke was actually do-able.

Happy Halloween!

What an awesome party. I totally forgot about bobbing for apples. I can't believe I didn't remember that.
Susan is pretty rockin'. Thanks for introducing me to her.

I haven't seen bobbing for apples in forever! That was great fun back in the day.

Stopped by from SITS.

Yes, it was a great time. We actually went to Susan's Halloween party a few days back, I just combined our Halloween experiences in one post. (since we spent part of the evening with Susan and fam last night too).

Just don't want to be all misleading and stuff. :)

awe, such great pictures. I do miss those days….I may have to pull out some old halloween pics!

Last night, we were here by ourselves. Our kids all had parties to go to…so I enjoyed each and every little goblin that came to my door!!!

Love it!! Looks like you had so much fun. I was going to do a party this year, but Amelia needed a filling and there went my party budget. Next year :)

I love what you said about the costumes empowering them. This is how every Halloween should be, truly!

And I LOVE that you're friends with Susan in real life!

I always wanted to be Princess Leia for Halloween, but I always had short hair. So… one year for Halloween… I dressed as Princess Leia and wore brown ear muffs. Oh yes, I did. I am now totally jealous of your friend Susan. And wincing at the memory of said brown ear muffs.

(Oh, and your boys are cute. As always. Do I even need to say that?)

My daughter is 3; every house we went to she said, "trick or treat! Can I come in please?" Good Times. Your crew is adorable.

I enjoyed the halloween photos. It is so fun to watch the kids get excited (and sometimes a little freaked out)
Halloween was a bummer for me this year. I miss my grandkids.

Hey Thanks!! :) We had so much fun with halloween this year! Your post captures it wonderfully. I LOVE how you put it all together. Nate and I (and kids) are so bummed that you are moving away… but we want to still get together for Halloween festivities AND MORE in the years to come. SO FUN! This is life!! :)
