something els(i)e

June 20, 2011

Elsie looks nearly identical to Miles as a baby. It makes me think about how we come here– how we arrive as everything we are but nothing like what we will be, all at the same time.

I’m not sure how much sense that made. I’m exceptionally tired. Sometimes I forget that I won’t always feel this way. I mean, newborns come as they are but they don’t stay this way. Not long at all.

I just love this picture. This is a proud big brother picture.

Elsie lost her umbilical cord stubby thing already. It actually got snagged on some clothes. Ouch. But it’s okay, we’re watching it closely. When Asher noticed it was gone he said (excitedly), “LOOK! Her power cord is gone!”

These people in my house, they’re something else.  Everyone is handling this transition so well, I’m just so grateful. Everything is about Elsie while some things are still totally about the boys. They seem fine with this. They seem to know she won’t always need so much.

And they just really really like her feet.

Happy Monday, friends.

I adore that. Her power cord. Kids are so freaking awesome.

She’s wireless! Elsie 2.0 is no longer analog.

That photo is frameworthy. The pride in his eyes leaps off the screen. I’m so happy for you and your family.

Her power cord..snort. That is funny. Libby is always surprised when I change Elliott that his cord is gone and she will announce it so excitedly. These people, they are just hilarious.

I love that picture of Miles and Elise. They are perfection. Just wait until they start playing with each other. Your heart will melt into a million pieces the first time the boys teach her how to hold a light saber ;)

I just love your boys! They have such dear little hearts.

I know you are treasuring each moment, even the bleary-eyed, exhausted, crying ones. She’s lovely.

“Power cord” is 7 kinds of awesome.

Sarah-fortheloveofnaps June 20, 2011 at 8:22 pm

you are lucky they love her feet. My boys love to grab her hands everytime they come over to say hi…and they don’t think about the sand, sticky popsicle goo, or whatever else that little boys have on their hands. I am heard saying, “Don’t touch her you are dirty.” all day long. My pour three year old will probably grow up thinking he is dirty…poor guy. Although, when I say look at your hands there is usually some evidence :)

where we are, where we come from, where we’re going, it’s all a blur sometimes unless we stop to think. Sometimes, it’s nice to think we know where we’re from and why we’re here. It’s peaceful for sure. As to where we’re going, that’s up to us to decide. I love that she lost her “power cord” that is priceless. I’m going to have to remember that one! So adorable all of your children good job Heather! You’re awesome!
