room service

August 9, 2011

It wasn’t easy having a baby at BlogHer. It was worth it, but it wasn’t easy. My head was split in half, covering her needs and trying to stay focused on all that needed to be done for the Serenity Suite. {This is where I say the hugest thank you EVER to Ellie, for her support and hard work the entire three days. This woman embodies what friendship really means. Truly.}

One morning, after Ellie went out to grab coffee for both of us, I ordered room service and then promptly forgot that I ordered room service. Then I put Elsie in her car seat, set her on the bathroom floor and got in the shower.

Then, when I heard a loud knock on the door, I WONDERED WHY.

Until this thought passed through my cluttered synapses…

OH YEAH. OATMEAL.

So I hopped out of the shower, threw a towel around my drippy self, stepped over the car seat and flung the door just a leeeetle bit open, enough to say loudly to the unsuspecting man with the oatmeal…

I FORGOT!!!

And then slam the door closed again.

That poor guy with the heavy tray had no idea what to think. So I hurried to throw pj’s on while yelling that I’d be right there.

This is not the only embarrassing moment from the weekend that I could bring to you right now, but alas it is all I have time for. You’re welcome.

I hope your weekend and your weekbeginnings have been good.

Soon…

P.S. This was the early morning view from our room, as I stood in soggy pajamas, bra-less and wide-eyed before the man with the oatmeal…

That’s the USS Midway, right? If so, that’s my Dad’s ship!

Oh, forgetting stuff like you ordered room service… in my house that affliction is called Brain Termites.

haha! When I got home I was so excited to see Ellis I forgot I checked a bag. Dave had to go back to the airport and pick it up. Good thing our airport is small and my husband is forgiving.

And I love you so much and it was so great to see you and super-thighs (ELSIE not Ellie)

You are doing such good hard work, woman. The best worst of it. It’s all uphill from here.

I MEAN DOWNHILL.

Oh! lol You were in my mind many times last weekend, navigating BlogHer with the babe in arms. I don’t know that I could have done it…the splitting of focus would have made my head spin. So glad you went, though!

You and Ellie and Elsie were great breakfast buddies last week. I kinda miss seeing her little hands and feet poking out of your baby carrier.

Sorry ’bout the oatmeal incident but it IS pretty funny… ;P

At least he didn’t just come into the room, you know? That happened to me on my honeymoon and I was hiding in the bathroom for a long time until I realized that the guy was CHATTING with my new husband while I was trapped without clothing in the bathroom. Awesome.

I would say you held up remarkably well with all the swirly going on around you. I did not experience you as flustered at all. You are such a great mama, and I am so thankful for the little snippets of time we got to share!

YAY for Miss Elsie’s sidebar appearance! Hi bebe!

Hahaha. I bet they are used to way worse.

Random question for you and you may not know. Who made those cake balls? I am dreaming about them.
