Just Write {25}

March 6, 2012

I keep trying to take a picture of Elsie in just the right light to catch the way her hair is growing in. It is wispy light, so fine and thin as baby hair is, but so sparse it’s comical. She has baby orangutan hair. It’s hard to capture it in a photo, to do it justice. I want to remember it and maybe I will because I look at it so much. I carry her around a lot, wearing her on my hip and she clings like the monkey that her hair makes her seem to be.

She wants me all the time and I want her all the time. I need breaks but not that many and not for very long because I am so smitten.

The other day Asher hurt her, doing something a four year old boy would do in a moment of impulsivity. It wasn’t mean-spirited or done in anger, it was just a mistake. He cried harder than she did and he kept saying, “I hurt Ewsieeee” with the most broken heart in his voice. He felt horrible because she is so sweet and he is so in love with her, too.

Miles still smells her head every time he’s next to her. Then he puts his head down low enough for her to reach and she pat pat pats at his hair and then he thanks her.

We are all swooning over here, still, nine months after meeting her. Of course. I mean, that’s what happens when someone is the perfect fit for you, the love just keeps getting bigger.

This is the 25th installment of Just Write, an exercise in free writing your ordinary and extraordinary moments. {Please see the details here.}  I would love to read your freely written words so join me and link up below. Isn’t that the truth, when love is right it grows BIG. That is all.

Lovely, as always, you.

My daughter is nearly 3 (hold me!) and we are still the same way. Her brothers are entirely in love with her, even when she makes them crazy. To think I had thought two were enough . . .

Oh my gosh, when Louise was just a little round, barely sitting up on her own, baby… Scouty and I were playing a game with clothespins. Just without thinking, not knowing that it would hurt, Scout clipped a clothespin on the top of Louisey’s ear. Oh my god. I want to cry just thinking about it. They both cried so hard and I loved them both so much.

Those eyelashes get me every time. And that food was good, huh? HA HA HA!

Oh, how I LOVE to see my boys love on their sister (and each other). There is nothing else like the sibling relationship. And the family love in general, well it just proves to me that God always does have a plan… :)

I look back now and remember the fear I had when we found out we were expecting our youngest when his brother and sister were barely a year-old and can’t imagine life without him. He is such a gift to the family and everyone loves him to pieces.
Gorgeous photo!

I love everything about this. It’s so accurate to say that this love is so consuming and that you are all just “in love” with her. She is so gorgeous that that photo lights up the room. Just beautiful.

Is it because I know she’s the last? Is that why I crave being with her more? Is that why I need less breaks? Am I being unfair to her? To the others? Why do I waste time obsessing about it?

Also? 25 weeks of Just Write. Wow. I love it so.

Oh. My. Stars.

Is that photo wasn’t enough sweetness, the way her brothers already treasure her??

You had me swooning.

She will be one well-looked-after girl, with her two adoring brothers keeping an eye on her! ;)

Look at that toothy grin. Never mind the cereal all over her face.

I love my kids in pictures! It reminds me that I love them in real life, too!
