4 fingers up. air quotes!

Happy Friday to you.

My friend Teri is such a lovely person. When we get on the phone, I feel…comforted. We talk a long time and say more than people usually say and it’s comfortable because she’s unconditional. I just wanted you to know that.

On Fridays, Teri has Favorite Quote Fridays on her site Keeping It Personal. She asked me to share one of my favorite quotes this week over there and I was so honored. You can head over to Keeping It Personal to read my quote and why I chose it–how it’s the one that encompasses so much of how I want to live. (Rilke will do that.)

What’s one of your favorite quotes? And why do you love it?

You guys, this is Teri’s book, Overcoming the Nevers and I’m reading it right now. So many times I’ve thought about how the 12 steps could help so many people, not just those in recovery. What Teri has done is to share those steps (with full credit to their authors) and how they can help you overcome the things that have happened that you never thought would happen in your life. It also helps you discover how to overcome the parts of yourself you fear might always keep you stuck, by applying the daily surrender and grace of the 12 steps. It’s lovely and I’m so grateful for what I’m learning by reading it.

Beautiful quote. As always, your personal reflections are truly inspiring. I have so many favorite quotes, I can’t name just one.

Most of them came from my mother, “Tough titty said the kitty, but it sure is sweet milk.”
and
“You can do anything you set your mind to.”
and
“You lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas.” That last one she used in the weirdest situations and it made sense.

I also am impartial to the Dixie Chicks, “Some days you gotta dance.”

I said “impartial.” I meant “partial.” :)

I wanna purchase a copy of Teri’s book too. It’s interesting. From scale of 1-10, how would you rate that book? thanks for sharing.

I don’t remember where I heard this (or variations), but I’ve always liked it:

We learn our lessons as many times as it takes. (It usually takes me a few.)
