Do what you love.
Don’t leap before grace.
Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose.
I have these sayings up around my office. They’ve been there so long, I don’t notice them. It’s funny, how we hang up words that we want to live by and then they become background to living, invisible. I hardly even see them anymore, but every once and a while, I sit and look around and they pull me back to my core, center me and remind me of a few things my spirit knows.
Invisible doesn’t have to mean gone.
I’m working on a post for tomorrow. It will be up at A Deeper Family. It’s about my grandparents, mostly. It’s part of our story. It’s largely about faith and how they lived it and how I live it the same and differently. It’s mostly God’s story and I wish we could all see that our spiritual paths are set out before us and so arguing about them is seriously pointless. These are God’s stories. He’s got them, whatever we call Him or don’t call Him.
If we were quiet, like the backgrounds of our stories instead of gongs, maybe we would live to find that we’re together more than we’re apart and one day we could stand there, or kneel there, maybe. We could look at each other and go, Oh, I get it now.
You were right, we’d say to each other with our knees bent and our mouths moving with our stories of grace. Right now we forget the invisible in all the noise. We can’t see we’re all the same and wholly loved but that doesn’t mean it’s gone.

Time for me to think about what has been shoved to the background. Great post – and I look forward to reading about your grandparents.

That’s really a lovely point. “These are God’s stories.” I have to remind myself that about our children. They are ours to raise, our gifts. But ultimately they are His.

So many things I value so highly become background noise. Thanks for reminding me to take a look around.

“God’s stories,” I love this! I have so many out of my own life, and find peace in looking at the beauty that God can make from ashes….. These stories. Our stories. They’re all His story….. Beautiful post on encouraging others to search and find the stories deep within….
I love the way you weave then and now.
And I love the reminder to really See what’s right in front of us.

It is so hard to see and hear with all the noise. Especially with it is ourselves holding the cymbals and clashing with all our might.
