on moving a family

April 24, 2013

I’m in the airport at 6:15 a.m.

The perfect time to write a post for A Deeper Family, no?

Well. I did. I hope I was awake enough to make sense. I do have a really large coffee and a big bottle of water, so there’s that.

What a whirlwind, friends. I’m all emotional about moving and I wrote about what a move means for a family and thank God for Phillip Phillips…

yeah, you can go on over to A Deeper Family to unravel that mysterious statement….if you’d like.

Peace.

I CAN’T WAIT!

Heather, as someone who moved several times and growing up and have moved three states since my first child was born, I can promise you it will all be okay. Your family will be with you and home will be each other wherever you go.

We are facing a move this fall. Leaving family and friends (including my grown son) to move to a new place with a nicer climate where we will retire. It is terribly exciting and terribly heart-wrenching the same time. Wanting to go does not mean wanting to leave. I don’t want to leave, but I am so excited to start this next adventure and chapter in my life. Remember that change is always scarey. And that scarey does not equal bad. How exciting for you to be starting this next chapter in your life!

Moves are hard. Across town, across the state, farther. Moves are hard. Our most recent move, my nearly 3 year old was really worried about if there would be toilets in the new house. It’s ok that it’s hard. It’s also hilarious and exciting.
I grew up in Austin, it’s a great town full of great people. My parents moved from the northeast. Leaving everyone and everything they knew. But, Austin is a grand town full of lots of people who have moved. We had aunts and uncles, and a grandma – all adopted in town. You’ll find what you need.
And if you want a friend nearishby, I’m just down the road and I visit often.
