The Story of Motherhood, in photos: Send me YOUR favorite!

July 12, 2013

Sometimes it seems like bad news is spreading across the Internet like wildfire at every single moment and it seems like it’s the only thing. So I LOVE it when inspiration, joy and hope show up on Facebook and Twitter and All The Other Places. My friend Ann posts inspiring things a lot and today she posted a link to an article: The Best Moments In People’s Lives in which people tweeted meaningful and powerful moments of their lives to someone because he asked. It’s so cool that he asked.

Anyway, this inspired an idea in me: I want to ask the same of you, friends. I love it that you’re here. I love to display the extraordinary of life (obviously) and sometimes those things are very….you guessed it….(seemingly) ordinary.

Will you send me your favorite candid photo that speaks of motherhood?

Like, what kind, Heather?

Good question: Any photo that speaks to you and tells a part of your story. Maybe someone took a photo of you and your kids and it shouts personality. Maybe a random moment was captured that surprised you in the way it displays something unique to your family. Maybe YOU took a photo that ended up being your favorite ever and you don’t even really know why, it just speaks. Any favorite photo that speaks of motherhood will do.

You can email your photo to heatheroftheeo at gmail dot com

or tweet it to me at @HeatheroftheEO

or share it with me on my Facebook page

Please add one sentence that describes why you chose the photo.

Here are some examples for you:

My big ginormous epic plan is to make a video of all of the photos I receive, including your description of why you chose the photo.

I’ll do my best to share ALL the photos I receive, depending on how many I get. I’m seriously SO excited about this. I love me some photo stories. Thank you in advance! Let me know if you have questions!

And please remember, “motherhood” means a lot of things. If you’re not a mother, please still participate with whatever photo speaks motherhood to you.

I’ll be taking photos until noon one week from today, which will be Friday, July 19.

*edited to add: I immediately started to get a lot of photos and I can’t tell you how EXCITED I am. Your photos are AWESOME!

So love this idea! Just tweeted a pic to ya. My sentence to go along with it is this:

Dress-up with underpants: the hilarious game my kids came up with to entertain themselves while I unloaded the dishwasher.

Can’t wait to see the video, Heather!
