be here now

October 9, 2014

I was driving along and paying close attention to how many leaves have fallen. Holy buckets, I thought.

It happens so fast.

And it was so gusty, so the leaves were swirling and whirling and even getting caught up in the air, sweeping circles above the minivan. It was like they were trying to fall back up to the branches.

I was pulling a trailer with a lawn mower in it, because I am small town Minnesota, hear me roar. I was on my way to the Cre8tive Escape building, which everyone in my life, including me, lovingly calls, The Building. The lawn, it did need a’mowin’. And we have our Grand Opening in ONE WEEK and maybe mowing isn’t the highest priority for that, but it is a high priority for me because the renters at the building should have a nice place to come to work and create, not a marshy wetland.

Also, the recycling is piling up way too high against the garage and today I plan to pull that trailer back over there to load up all that stuff.

There is always something to do.

Like, right away. Not like, Add that to the list…but more like, OMG I better do that right now! I forgot!

Pay the bill (walk into the office or hop online because LATE), get the groceries (NO really, like, there’s NO food), rush to the Middle Fork (late for the shift), paint the walls at The Building (no more putting it off, there are renters of the community space this weekend!), wash the clothes (the kiddos have no underwear)….

But somehow it’s okay. In the midst of the moments where I want to scream and run away because I.just.can’t….God shows up.

Maybe you think of God as not God like I think of God, but we can agree on Grace, I’m pretty sure. Because we’ve both seen leaves swirl, and we both know they can’t go back. We both can see it’s time to move forward, and even when we get it wrong or we slow down or take steps back, we do.

This line: “We both can see it’s time to move forward, and even when we get it wrong or we slow down or take steps back, we do.” I love this. And I am glad that you’re moving forward and miss your face!!

Good luck at the grand opening at The Building! :) God always knows when to show up! I think He shows up even when I don’t go looking for Him. How blessed I am to have such a kind and loving Father. Wishing you blessings!

love the image of the leaves trying to go back and knowing that they can’t… Such a good visual for change and moving forward. Your building sounds great. Good luck at the Opening.
