GO.

April 4, 2012

Today I said, Note to life: I’m done with this week early. Thanks for having me!

Life isn’t a very good listener. Apparently we’re supposed to learn from it more than it learns from us. Buh.

Nothing is really bad or anything, it’s just exhausting. The travels-for-work husband is traveling and Asher has hit a phase in which he is terribly NOT okay with having a traveling dad. I can’t figure out if it helps or hurts to talk to Daddy on the phone. I’m guessing he’d just be really sad either way. The bright side is that the way Asher’s heart is hurting is evidence of a really strong connection with his Dad. I love that.

Today has gone something like

go go go go go go go goooooooooooo….

breathe.

go go go go go go go goooooooooooooooooo….

gasp.

go go gogogogogoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…

fall over.

get up.

GO.

Then it momentarily stopped because a friend is here and she’s hanging with Elsie and Asher and Miles is with his bestie/neighbor playing outside. I should take a nap but I’m sitting here typing away instead because it just releases something for me even if I’m just not saying a lot of anything.

I was eating breakfast this morning and I just could not stop yawning. It was a rough night with our teething Elsie and then Miles was up early so I was trying to get coffee to wake me up and I was eating oatmeal. I looked up to see Elsie very perplexed at the disappearance of Miles, how he transformed into some other thing…

See?

Hilarity. I put this photo directly from Instagram to Facebook and Twitter and asked people to caption it. I loved so many of the responses, but one of them just cracked me up the most because of this whole teething thing.  It’s from my friend, the sweet dear abby leigh,

“If that’s what’s gonna happen to me when these teeth come in, I’m not sure I’m interested.”

Love that.

Tomorrow we’re loading up the minivan with ourselves and movies for the little DVD player and snacks and we’re going to St. Paul for Asher’s annual check up with his neurosurgeon. Everything has been going well for him, it’s just a routine exam, something we just need to do to stay ahead of any problems with his shunt/hydrocephalus. We’re so grateful it’s gone so well for him so far. I can’t believe it’s been 3.5 years since his surgery. Wow. Yeah so anyway, it’ll be a full day tomorrow. Mommy I want a snack! Mommy I have to go potty! Mommy I’m hungry! waaah waaaah waaaaah!!!

I’m pretty sure I’m the one that should be wearing the superhero costume. Thank the good Lord my mom is coming along to help with the short people.

Today my dear Ellie has her surgery, to remove the rest of the tumor in her throat. I’m believing this is it for her. Finally the end to all the treatment and attempts at eradicating this cancer. Please believe that with me and send her your love and thoughts and prayers.

Instead of “I’ve got your back, Asher says “I’m on your back”. Totally cracks me up. I’m on your back doesn’t sound like that much of a relief, but he means well, so…Ellie, we’re on your back.

xoxo

Oh I just love that picture!! It sort of encapsulates the mayhem of motherhood doesn’t it?

Good thoughts for Ellie and Asher’s check up!

OMG – those eyebrows are EXACTLY the way Jake’s been drawing eyebrows lately in his cartoon people – like tilda accents. I thought it was an exaggeration, but I see now I’m WRONG, he has just been psychically channeling Elsie. He must somehow meet your daughter! (Look at his drawings here, to see what I mean: http://www.squashedmom.com/2012/03/art-and-autism.html )

Also, many hugs to you from one exhausted mom to another. And happy travels.

Love the Spiderman in the background of the pic. Almost thought it was my living room. One time my son went 16 days in a row wearing his Spiderman costume.
