I made a #JustWrite book

November 21, 2012

As you may know, I haven’t been terribly good at promoting my own wares or tooting my horn or whathaveyou. I just don’t want to come across as all ego driven or somesuchthing.  It’s only taken me five years of blogging and meeting smart and savvy women writers/creators online to learn it’s not BAD to share what you do with the world. It’s actually quite good! So, here I am, telling you that I made my favorite Just Write posts from this past year (YES! It’s been over a year!) into an ebook.

When I was in Chicago at BBC, I had the pleasure of meeting Samantha from Blurb, and listening to her speak. I got (overly) excited hearing about all the ways a person can utilize Blurb, and when I got home, I got right to working on this book and another Instagram one:

This #JustWrite ebook is currently available for $9.99 and looking at it on my ipad basically kind of astounds me. I mean, if you blog or write anything anywhere, basically, what you have stored up is a book. And it’s as easy as taking the step to open Blurb, moving your words from there to there, creating, a second time. Choosing photos. Your favorites, both words and photos. It’s so affirming and fun and you can sell them but you don’t have to; maybe you want your words just for you and that’s just fine, too.

I’m working on making this same book into a coffee table/bedside table/gift book with a hardcover and dust jacket as well. I’m planning to sell them, and maybe you’ll consider getting one for someone for the holidays. Like yourself or someone you love. But no pressure, truly. I loved making this book no matter what comes of it, and I’m not just saying that.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, friends!

I’m going to thank you extra much on CYBER MONDAY alongside Blurb…so don’t miss it. I mean, really. REALLY. DON’T MISS IT. You’re going to get some really great deals ’round these parts.

I made a book! (You can get the ebook if you’d like, from Blurb. Maybe you’ll read it and decide that’s all you need, which is totally fine (can’t stop people-pleasing) or maybe you might kind of want the gift books after you  have it, to give or keep maybe.) (I’m going away now.) (Except to say that I hope to be taking orders for the hardcover books within the next week or so.)

Edited to add: The ebook is only available on apple iOS devices, BUT, I’m working on a PDF format that can be added to anything else. SOON!

Peace out.

I disclaim: I made my ebook for freeness as a part of a working with Blurb to bring you good things. But really, friends…it’s only 9.99 to make the ebook!

This is so exciting Heather!!!! Having your own words in print is such a treasure…one I plan to make a reality for myself in 2013. Six years of blogging and I still haven’t printed a single book of my own posts. I love the cover design and plan to head over to blurb and look at your project more closely.

I’m super excited about the cyber monday deal as I have a 290 page book for a client that I have been spending every spare moment on. It will be a nice treat to save some money on it! Thanks!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

See, it pays to be all self-promotional-ish, because I wouldn’t have known this was even possible if one of my blogger friends (Florinda) hadn’t shared this.

And now I have a new blogger to follow, a new project, and a new book to get!

See what you did there? :)

mmmm…I’ll have to check this out. I have been thinking lately about what a pain it would be to try & get my insta pics off the web, to an email, to a cd to a photo printing shop, into a photo book, etc. Was sort of hoping something like this would magically come along and save the day. =) Thanks for sharing! =)

Love it. I’ve had this idea in the back of my mind but hadn’t thought of Blurb. Thanks for sharing, Heather!

P.S. Are you doing your hardcover/physical copy through Blurb, too? (P.S. will you shoot me your reply in email b/c I’m awful at following up on comment replies? Thanks, lady.)

Hi lady!

Yes, the hardcover is coming from blurb too. They’re (thankfully) sending me a sample of what I created so I can see it in real life before ordering a quantity of them and then finding something I don’t like in person :)

It was actually pretty therapeutic to make it. Fun, too. Get over here (to EO) to be one of the first 50 commenters and you can do yours for freeness. ;) Cyber Monday. Or, if 50 has passed, you can get 25% off, which is their best deal evah.
