I was on the other side of the glass, toasty warm. I needed to watch their joy…without putting boots on. They came in quickly and had hot cocoa. {Don’t call it hot chocolate, Asher will tell you it’s cocoa.}
Last night we had our first fireplace fire of the year. We all lounged around on the floor and the couch and we told Christmas stories in the dark. Then we remembered Thanksgiving so Ryan and I told the boys about The New World and a fine feast and we figured there was a lot of corn. Asher thought Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria were hilarious names for boats.
Things can change really quickly and I have friends with that kind of hard change in their lives so heavy right now. It makes me turn to look around and find thankfulness in white snow and good questions and hysterical giggles. I have no other choice because those are the things that steal some of the power from all of that heavy and hard. The grace things. The always good and right things. I need those things.
Happy Thanksgiving, friends. I’m grateful for you.
And oh yes! I’m really thankful for a brewing 3rd giggler, too:

This is just so beautiful…this grasping each moment of life and love. I find it so interesting that we celebrate gratitude just days before we begin the howl of Advent… the longing for the Savior to come and bring joy and peace. Gratitude with each breath. I'm thankful for you!
I love the pure simple joy and beauty of this. :)
Cute boys? That dog is pretty adorable too. Love how it's mawing the snow on the table.
Beautiful reflections too.
Yes! And, what a cute belly!
This week has me reflecting and appreciating all that we have, especially in each other.
*belly rub*
That acornish little tiny tummy? Melts me.
I find myself missing you, often. Lovelove.
Happy thanksgiving to you, sweet lady! And all your gigglers.
I'm thankful for YOU!
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
I've spent my morning enjoying my third giggler today. Joy times three in this house now, so glad you get to do the same kind of math.
So grateful for you and the sweet reminder of sweetness you are.
You look ADORABLE. So thankful for you my dear friend!
And hoping for seasons of renewal for everyone.
"Brewing"…I love that! And I feel right there with you guys in the snow and by the fireplace. You take such candid, joyful photos!
You have inspired me to be grateful…and to go slurp some snow…
I can't wait to meet #3 (who is a girl) (did I mention I'm almost always wrong when I guess?). We are just coming off 2 years of struggle with various forms of 'hard'- some of which you know about. There is so much JOY that comes when you realize that the worst is behind you and the skies are clearing ahead. I hope and pray your friends will find themselves back in clear skies as soon as heavenly possible.
Joy.
Pure Joy.
I believe it's God's pleasure.
For a long time I believed it was my job to carry other's burdens. They were sad: I needed to be sad. I needed to be as sad as the saddest person on planet earth. That was my goal in life. To be a good empath.
But how, exactly does that help?
When I am sad, I need the ladder of someone's joy so I can climb out.
I didn't even need to climb out today. I merely climbed higher on your ladder.
This is a better way.
Love all the snow pictures! Great captures and the belly shot is so cute. :) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, friend!
I was feeling the same way with my post today.

It's been too long since I've been here but wow those pictures make me smile. And 10 weeks already??? Really? WOW! Seems like yesterday…. :-)
And wisps of snow? Already? Seems like only yesterday that I was landing in the frozen tundra and we're heading back that way again…
Happy Thanksgiving my friend….
