Have I mentioned lately how great Miles is? Have I said how crazy I am about him? Or have I just been whining about temper tantrums and stalling at bedtime? Either way, I have to say that the things this child says alone could keep me going for weeks on end. He’s so bright and happy, thoughtful and vibrant. I’m so glad he’s ours.
He says it like it is:
Miles and Daddy were playing together and suddenly Miles says disgustedly,
He has dreams:
“Mommy, are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“We should start a BAND. In our basement! Isn’t that a great idea???”
He knows what he wants and sells me on it:
“Mom, maybe you could go get me some chapstick. My lips are SO chapped….and so are my teeth AND my tongue!”
Walking away from where he’s been playing with his brother, he looks frustrated and says in a huff, “Asher’s making bored happen.”
He’s contemplating something and looks so deep in thought I think I can’t get his attention. Then he says, “I think God sends help for our world, like superheroes.”
He’s always ready to simply be a kid. And imagine:
“Mommy, if a dinosaur ate you, before you went down it’s throat, it would chomp you with sharp teeth and keep you in it’s cheek and I would have to come and save you with my side kick who is very Asher and I would WAP and BOOM and then he saw another man with a rope and he tied the sidekick up and then he tied horses up and he was furry and boomed to a fairy…” (I typed that as he was saying it or there would be no way I would remember.)
Miles, you rock.

I love that you were sitting at the computer, transcribing his statements.
And I love the Asher makes bored happen.
I wonder how we adults can get that childlike faith back–and why we lose it in the first place.
That part about the angels stopped me cold. Children are so much more aware than we are.
LOL…omgosh out of the mouths of babes…Miles does Rock!
Amen to what Charrette said.
You have a very special boy there.
Ohh I love it! It is SO much fun to record/type their sayings, isn’t it??? :)
What I love about this age is that God gifts us with tremendous blessings to help us through the tremendous trials! :) When they are good, they are very, very good, but when they are “bad”…
And what about his sheer handsomeness? Kids a real teachers, huh?
absolutely adorable.
Rock on, kid. Rock on.
We should get our kids together.
I could think of worse things happening when you get brothers together! What a smart kid…
YOur kids rock! I have a notebook where I write down all the stuff my kids say. I keep it handy in the kitchen, I just write down their name and age and what they said and it is so fun to go back and read that. As for the angels, my Big Guy used to talk about the angels all of the time. You have to know they’re real. It’s not like kids see them on TV and are imagining them. . ..
Miles is the man. I am so glad he will save you if you get chomped by a dinosaur. And I’m going to email you something about angels because I think Miles totally got that right. Love his little mouth. :)
He sounds awesome! :) and looks just precious!
I love it. I want to smoosh his cute cheeks!
“Asher makes bored happen” belongs on a bumper sticker or a t-shirt…
Wait, no…
It should be the name of Miles’ BAND!
Indeed he does! I almost fell out about Asher making bored. He’s too funny or it could be my intake of Apple Martini’s…no no, it’s him. Gotta love that kid!
Missed ya, but I’m all caught up now!
“Asher’s making bored happen”
Im so stealing that line!
Thanks Miles!
Wow, you get to be the drummer in Miles’ band? He must think pretty highly of your talents. When I suggested the same to my son, I was turned down flat. Want to take a guess as to what instrument I was assigned to?
The maracas.
Somehow, I don’t think our band is going to be an overnight success.
I love to read about the relationship that you share with both of your very special boys.

I just love kid speak. He is so smart. That is amazing that he thinks of such broad and imaginative things. Doctor in the making.
Love and Prayers,
Tim
What a wonderful imagination (the superheroes and dino thing) and what tremendous belief and trust (the angel thing.)
I know Miles is an amazing kid but those beliefs and virtues come from YOU being a great mom. He learned all those truths and skills at your feet. You constantly amaze me, Heather.
I absolutely love his sayings–I’m trying to sift through my favs…I’m thinking it’s about Asher making bored happen–that may be the classic…for now…because I know he’ll have some more gems for us!
Blessings!
I LOVE these. Priceless. Especially the one about Asher’s angel. Wow. that gave me chills.
Yeah, for reals. His comment about angels and Asher got me all teary.
The angel that comes to be with Asher? Made me cry. So awesome that he told you that.
Reading Miles’ sayings is seriously one of the highlights of my bloggy week EVERY time you post them.
I love kids… they have no filter!!!
LOL Boy talk is wonderful….thanks for sharing. (drummer? you’re brave. I don’t have enough timing!)
Miles’ comments always crack me up. I love when you do posts about him. I need to do more about the crazy things my kids say, I just always forget to write them down.
I just love your kids. Which is really unusual for me – I don’t much care for other people’s kids in general:) But Miles rocks.
Oh, there’s Wenda! I love that story about you and your little boy. I love the dinosaur statements. I am SO in trouble when I finally get a boy! I seriously won’t know the first place to start!!!
He’s so funny! Almost makes up for the times he’s so NOT funny, right?
The thing he said about the angel… WOW!
