Friday~May 1st, 2009
The last twenty four hours have consisted of: the stomach flu, a fight with my husband (don’t worry, we made up), four eye teeth poking through at once for Asher, the mud room looking as if someone has actually mud wrestled in it, a catscan with way too much barium involved, A LOT of food ground into the carpet, and too many dirty dishes that will remain dirty for awhile (I have absolutely no dishwasher detergent OR dish soap.).
I’m resting my arms on a stack of bills that need to be paid and paperwork that needs to be done as I type this.
This is one of those days when, even though I know there’s no way to stay on top of things that have no top, I wish I could at least start the climb.
So what I’m about to say might be totally insane…
I love my life.
The End.

I hope you have a better weekend, Heather!
Oh honey, I so get you. Hey look – it’s May 1!! A new month full of better scenarios for all of us, I hope.
Happy weekend (she cautiously says while knocking on wood) – E
Why, oh why do I not live down the street from you?! I’d be there doing your dishes in a heartbeat. ~hugs~
I love that you love your life anyway. When we look past the mess afflicting us to the people we’re privileged to enjoy, it doesn’t look quite so bad, does it?
you may want to take your temperature… i believe you are coming down with something!
have you at least found some sun?
Wait, really, ALL THAT, in just 24 hours? How you continue coherently I do not know. I think maybe tonight should be order pizza night (and eat off paper plates night) (Or maybe eat nothing night, if the flu still abides), and if you need to laugh about 100 ways to order pizza (or just laugh in general), I suggest this:

Hang in there, friend!
YOU are awesome! It’s a beautiful mess, isn’t it? Hope your weekend proves to be a better few days.
I get it! I do! I have days like that well… almost daily! :)
I hope you have a better weekend – get some rest, eat some good stuff, relax, drink some good stuff, and just… relax. Monday will come soon enough with all its duties and responsibilities.
And also – I love the new look!
I get it. I have a similar mess, jsut with different components. And I am crazy in love with this life God has given me.
And some days I say it over and over just to convince myself…
I know it’s rough when you constantly feel behind on stuff. Praying.
and I love you!
Have a great weekend!!!
oh i just love you!! thank you for loving your life, thank you for not complaining!!!!!!
are there enough exclamation points in this comment? i am actually tearing up becuz you love a life that is crazy – a life that is “normal”. praise God for normal.
i would come and help with the dishes but i hate the “throw ups”.
Oh Heather~ that is a tremendous 24 hours! Hope your weekend is sunshine and warmth and your climb can begin!
At least you’re looking on the bright side! Good luck catching up!
Still, I hope you get past the piles and muck. It’s good to have a heavenward-facing perspective to make all that seem trivial.
Barium AND stomach flu? Please tell me these weren’t in (or out) of the same person! Yikes!
I love that you have it in you to write that last line.
To actually see it among everything else is a true talent!
Your amazing! I honestly can’t say I love my life when I am confronted with the stomach flu. Hang in there-hopefully your weekend will be easier!
I hope that you can begin that climb soon. If not don’t worry the bills will keep coming. ;)
Oh, dear. I’m glad you can say that on a day like that. I would probably be crying! :)
We had a missionary conference before we left, and the piece of advice from some missionaries from Africa that my husband and I use every once in a while: Everyone has an ‘I hate Zambia’ day now and again.
PS: I’m a little behind, but I really like the blog makeover.
Life is good, isn’t it. Even when it’s bad, it’s good.
Oh Heather. I feel ya. And I just love your line “There’s no way to stay on top of things that have no top…” – that is just it. There is no top.
Everything is just a big fat work in progress. And I’m getting better each and every day at loving the work in progress vibe.
Yeah. Life’s good.
Hang in there sister.
:-)
It’s a little tender mercy from God when we can be so swamped and still love our lives. Thanks for the inspiration. I needed it today. Been a rough one.
I too love the “stay on top of things that have no top” description – I just might steal it!
Oh my. Who had the stomach flu? Was the brain scan just a routine checkup? Why are you out of detergent?
I need answers!
That’s the attitude we all need!
How did the cat scan go? Are you (and your fam) okay? And I sure hope “The End” is not the REAL end because I can’t live without you now!
Heather, you really are one of the most amazing women I’ve ever known. Please take care. When I grow up, I want to be just like you. =]
Whhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeee……………!!!
yeah.
(flight. conchords. fun.)
xo, crock
Oh Heather, I am SO SORRY. …and I totally get still loving your life in the middle of all that. (((hugs))))
I need to be better about the loving my life despite it all part. Thanks for this.
Oh that is just the worst. I just had a cat scan and the barium just about made me puke. Then the next day I had a colonoscopy and had to drink all of that nasty stuff the same day starting right after the cat scan.
I feel your pain.
That would so have been a great vlog post! Have you seen the carnival at Fort Thompson?
Love and Prayers,
Tim
Sometimes you just have to stop and realize that, don’t you? This is my life, even though it overwhelms me sometimes, and I love it.
I hope the weekend brings you a little rest :)
It’s a life worth living isn’t it?
You are ight. Regardless of allt he craziness, I love my life too.
You always manage to find the silver lining, gal!
What a lovely May Day. :)
As usual – you keep everything in the absolute right perspective. I know exactly how you feel.
Wow…what a day….
I enjoyed reading your blog today.
I am still new to the land of blog, but so loving reading others stories.
Everyone has a story and so many of them are so touching…
Hope you will stop by for a visit.
The May give-away has started and this month there will be 10 winners. I will be blogging from Disney World soon…
Life rocks…even when you have WAY too much to do and you really just want to have a nap and eat Doritos while you watch Rock Bus of Love.
Heather — you are the bomb!!! that kind of attitude might just get those dishes done after all —-tell me where you live, I’ll come do them for you.
That’s what it’s all about. I think the secret to life is learning to love the hard parts.
I love the way you put things into perspective. I had a day like that yesterday, thanks for the reminder.
Oh. My. Goodness.
What they said. Including the part about coming over to do the dishes for you. I’ll even help clean the mud room. (Provided it’s really mud and not . . . you know . . . doggy do or anything like that. ew.)
Oh poor lady! Better yet? Love you!
I guess it’s okay you didn’t come to our party then :). I hope the chaos feels more manageable now.
