Let’s just say I’m a really big fan of Bono. I’ve always loved U2’s music. Then about seven years ago I came across a book about U2, and as I read it I developed a great respect for Bono. Previously I had no idea he was that hard at work in the world. I knew he had a reputation for “doing good,” but I had no idea what level of good. I love the way he spins the issues, eloquently revealing the reality of the situation in Africa, without placing blame. In my humble opinion, many of the strides forward he has made, came about because of his diplomatic, sensible arguments about bettering the lives of others, and his way with words. To read or hear his take on aid to Africa will make you a believer that something really can be done. That’s no small feat. In short, I’m thankful there are Bonos out there. The world could use some more rock stars like him. Yet no one should try to emulate him; he’s a one-of-a kind, never-will-be-again, rockin’, blue-glasses-wearin’, stubbly, passionate advocate with a crazy side. Go Bono!
“…the one thing, on which we can all agree, among all faiths and ideologies, is that God is with the vulnerable and the poor…God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house…God is in the debris of wasted opportunity and lives, and God is with us if we are with them…” – Bono (taken from his speech at the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, 2006).
I Luv U 2

Ahhh…Bono. Nobody says it so well! Now…if others in power would hear those words it would be a “beautiful day.”
