Up Close but Not That Personal

September 17, 2009

Thursday~September 17th, 2009

This week, Beth’s challenge for You Capture was MACRO. So I got up close (but not that personal) to a few things I see all the time, every day. It amazes me how I can find the beauty even in the most familiar of things, if I take the time to look closely…

Asher shoots water from a balloon to his face for a “drink.”
(Yes, until it gets too cold outside, I do see water balloons daily.)

One of the first fallen leaves from the “Miles Tree” in our front yard.

I found beautiful little dirty and worn out details in three more things.
Let’s see if you can guess what these ordinary things are…

You can check out more close-ups, or learn how to join in next week by clicking on the picture below…

I LOVE the balloon shot.
I think the first mystery object is a peg, but am stumped on the other two. Great work!

Becky September 17, 2009 at 3:52 pm

Oh, man! I only got the bike pedal.

I wish I were competent as a photographer. Alas, my skills are lacking.

There really is beauty in the simplest of things. It's a matter of taking the time to see it. Wonderful photos (even though I have no clue what they're of)

Love the leaf so much. Beautiful!

My guesses are stroller brake, I don't know, and bike pedal? Maybe? Now I'm going to back and see what everyone else guessed :)

Love the water balloon shot – so cool. And… I have NO idea what those other things are, although the middle one, part of it reminds me of French toast.

Kimberly September 17, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Sarah September 17, 2009 at 8:19 pm

What type of camera do you have? I love the pics here and in other posts. Thanks for your sweet comment on our boys blog. Blogging is such a world in itself and it's wonderful to find gems like your blog. I am in a tough spot emotionally and reading your blog, Mama Manifesto and a few others have helped me to see that I am soooo normal. That it's okay to be in a funk and my kids will be just fine.
Thanks for that!

Ha! I'm just copying This Heavenly Life's answers and now I'll get an easy 100:)

Vera September 19, 2009 at 11:27 pm

That fallen leaf looks so beautiful and the colors in that photo are just so vibrant!

Tooj September 22, 2009 at 9:29 am

You're pretty good at this camera stuff. I'm jealous. Up close shots are always blurry for me…might be the lack of technology I'm holding, but it might also be the operator. We'll just pretend to NOT know the answer.

kanishk September 24, 2009 at 10:28 pm

I think the first mystery object is a peg, but am stumped on the other two. Great work!
