1. Run, don’t walk, to the park.
2. Sneak snacks no matter what time it is.
3. Chase chipmunks with squeal-y matching friends.
4. Skip naps and take long baths, washing off the lake or the pool or the sand or the dirt or the all of the above.
5. Worry less about getting clean and more about getting fun.
6. Look long at the water and the sky while you stay up late.
7. In other words, ignore the rules.

Si is following that guide book to the T. And this mama couldn't be happier about that. Summer rocks. {Especially in the Midwest!!!!}
Love it, Heather!!
LOVE.
Amen! Yes, yes, and yes.
It sounds like your boys have figured out the perfect recipe for summer already.
Good rules to live by!
Summer time is totally rule-breaking time! ha!
That last shot is so sweet!
Love the rule-free rules. We're doing a little of that here, too, and it's so freeing. Kids wish we could skip the showers, but the one rule I demand be followed is the no getting into clean bedsheets with muddy bodies. I'm just a little stiff like that.
Awesome rules.
Man. I thought "consider the pool a bath" would be in there somewhere. Good thing I'm ignoring the rules!
Now that is what summer is all about!
You forgot one thing. Eat ice cream every day. Sometimes twice. :-)

And make forever memories along the way…love it!
Simply perfect. That is summer defined. Or at least it should be.
Love this!
It almost makes me long for the days when I had small children.
Almost. I mean there is the whole bathing, feeding, taking care of themselves thing. And the ability to cook. And the running my errands because they can drive thing. And the sleeping in their own beds thing.
No, I'll be happy where they're at now. But thank you for reminding me of their young childhoods. There were good times then, too.
I would live by these rules all year round if I could!
"Ignore all the rules"
– 'aint that the truth. Gotta love every single minute of it though because you blink and there is snow on the ground again. Blech!
I am so so glad I have seen your cute face in person so that I can now see it in your children.
Great rules to live by, for sure!
How fun!
The best. Love that cheeky monkey sneaking a snack.
We have a strict stay-in-pjs-'til-noon rule, which we broke the other day with Hubs coming home from work to discover us still dressed for bed.
When it's 102 outside, what's the point?
your kids are ridiculously adorable! love these photos… and your honesty!
hope your having a good day!
Sounds like your kids' mom has got it figured out!
