August 12, 2010

On Friday morning at
BlogHer there was a 5K through Central Park, honoring Tanner of Tutus for Tanner. Tanner himself saw us off from the hotel lobby, and then as you can see, we sprinted the entire way.

I am so in love with this picture. It is friendship and connection and it is spreading the word for a good cause.

I have my hand on Allison, my fellow Minnesotan blog friend. She is one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the honor to know, so I’m really glad my hand is on her. Hopefully her goodness wore off, adhering itself to my palm a bit.

~~~~~
For the rest of this week through next Wednesday my family (extended and immediate) has the use of a cabin on a lake. We’ve already been making use of it this week. I have to show you some of the photos from out there because they are of my children and my children are the most adorable little morsels you ever did see, if I do say so myself. I missed them so much while I was gone and have been gobbling them up ever since. (Except for in the moments when my over-tired self can’t function and then I’m just spaced out and impatient–and so it goes with motherhood. We moms, we get knocked down, but we get up again.) (Yes. I just tried to get that song in your head.) (You’re welcome.)
Feast your eyes on the cute, and have a good few days…
In the photo at the beginning of this post, you may notice my legs are basically just toothpicks (ankles) with golf balls (knees). I get them from this man, below, my father. Except my legs have seen the sun in the last sixty-ish years and his have not…
(Don’t worry. One day he’ll forgive me for posting this picture. Just like he forgave me that one time when I was in seventh grade and told him I was going to a friend’s house and really went to a movie with boys instead.)
Also. I may reappear randomly at some point to share a HILARIOUS Letter to a Blogging Conference from myself and Ellie. (At least we thought it was hilarious while deliriously over-tired at 1 a.m. in NYC.)
One last Also: Why are my lips so chapped? It started in NYC and it was so humid there and so I thought it was weird that I wasn’t more moisturized. But my lips are still peeling off no matter how many edifying ointments I slather on them. Weird. Pollution? (And yes, I drank a ton of water.) (I know this is riveting.) (Shut up.)
The End.
Dude, you make cute babies. Have a blast at the cabin!
Corinne August 12, 2010 at 9:11 pm
HEATHER! My lips have never been this dry and chapped before… they've even bled… it's been ridiculous. It must have been something in the air in NYC. Seriously.
Have a wonderful time at the cabin :)
I have always had chapped lips and mine are just fine. What are you using? Try vaseline and if that doesn't work, Aquaphor! (And I'm not saying that just because I posed as Wonder Woman at the Aquaphor booth. Seriously. I mean, I'm really not one of those creepy marketing people.)
oh my gosh my lips are SO frickin chapped right now! i think it's from the airplane air and the climate change. good thing i got like 83 promotional chapsticks at blogher.
I get chapped lips every time I fly. But I also keep stock in Palmer's cocoa butter sticks, so there is always a quick cure.
Also, those babies are too cute!
I've loved reading about all your experiences from BlogHer but now I'm glad that you get to go and relax with your family for a bit.
Those hammock pics are so cute! Enjoy Heather, you deserve it. xo
I should post a photo of my dad's legs as well. Maybe then it'd shut up everyone from saying "how can you be so thin after jut having a baby?". First of all, I'm not THAT thin…..and second of all, genetics. It's a powerful thing. I can't help it so stop looking at me as if you want to shoot me.
Sorry, where was I?
Yes, your kids. The cuteness. :) I love it.
WHAT? YOU snuck out with boys??? Hmmm… I believe I recall being guilty of that, too. Shhh….
Wish you all colours of wonderfulness for your trip – enjoy!
I can see my face at the bottom of this post. That's creepy. And kind of cool. Moving on…
I'm totally jealous of your cabin usage. I may head over to Josephine with the kids tomorrow as the husband is gone and I must get them out of the house if for no other reason then they can't possibly make a mess while we're out.
Hope you're enjoying the water!
Heather,
You make me feel like a real person. Especially when you talk about your dad.
tippytoe foxtrot August 14, 2010 at 11:45 pm
adorable little humans!
I totally got my dad's feet. If they age like his (partly due to his serious running habit. i doubt i will ever run the amount he has) I may very well never be able to wear sandals in my 40s.
