I’ve just taken a break from Asher’s hospital room and came upon a computer. I had a moment to take a look at my friend, Midnight Cafe’s post and will hopefully read through all of your lovely comments soon. Thank you! I can’t say enough how much it means to know you’re out there thinking of us.
I needed a break because my boy is currently quite agitated, over-tired, and in pain. We can’t seem to get him to calm down and rest. I hope that soon he’ll hit the wall and let himself fall asleep. For now, we’re struggling along with him as he can’t stop crying and can’t find a way to be comfortable.
We’re so very thankful for the fact that the surgery went well. I don’t expect that everything will be perfect or go just as smooth as I’d like it to go, but I admit I’m struggling along with Asher a great deal right now.
Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers.
I plan to report a miracle tomorrow, telling you all about how Asher suddenly fell fast asleep and woke up feeling so much better.
We’ve already experienced such things today, as he didn’t even cry when they put the IV in and then I went to check out his room and meet his nurse and she happens to be someone from my hometown who grew up in the same church as I did. (That was a couple of hours from St.Paul and here we both are, taking care of Asher. Small world. She’s an angel, a lovely sweet and empathetic girl). Cool.

Awww, I hate hearing he’s in pain and can’t sleep. I hope he feels relief soon. *hugs momma* you’re continually in my thoughts all of you.
I’m so glad for small miracles that let us know that God is watching.
I really hope he falls asleep soon. I am so glad the surgery went well! You are still in my thoughts and prayers.
I’m so happy to hear from you Heather. Hang in there!
That’s the worst when you can’t help him figure out how to calm down. Poor little guy. Poor little momma.
So glad you updated! Love you guys! (am I allowed to say that. When you cry during a prayer for someone like I did in our family prayer tonight, I think it’s okay to say you love ’em.)
It is good to hear from you Heather!! ((((HUGS)))) from me at this difficult time!! Here’s to hoping he falls asleep and sleeps soundly so mom and dad can!!
I’m so glad to hear about Asher! I’m sorry he’s so agitated, and that you are having a hard time, too. You are in my prayers.
I’m betting his pain meds aren’t very strong since he’s a baby…the poor little guy. I’ll pray that he konks out soon and wakes up his normal, cheery self (with a smaller head!), and that you can all get some rest.
I’m so glad that the surgery went well. Looking forward to the report tomorrow!
(((hugs))) We’ll be praying that Asher feels better soon.
I have no idea if this will happen for you or not, but my son is a horrid no good very bad person for about 5-6 hours after surgery and then that vanishes and I get my sweet baby back.
Hang in there!!!
Those miracles will keep coming, babe. You have so many people around the world praying for you. ~hugs~
Thanks for taking time and updating us. I’ve been thinking about you all day. BIG HUG!
Thanks for keeping us in the loop! Still praying the process goes well!! Soon Mr. Noggin Pants will be happy again, I know it! Do I know the nurse from church?
we just have THE coolest God that does sweet and wonderful things like that…the nurse! what a special sign of His presence.
i can wonder how frustrating it is to see him struggling today. i’ll be praying for both of you. it’s so hard as a mom, when there is nothing you can do to make them settle! chin up girl and hang in there.
thank you for taking the time to inform us .. we continue to pray for all of y’all (in my best Kentucky drawl) .. I know how you must feel .. I have been there with my own kids ..
Take heart in the fact that God is comforting him .. and in the near future this will be a faded memory for him ..
sending our love and prayers
So good to hear from you!!! Glad that he is in recovery and is recovering! Continued prayers and thoughts for your family.
Wheew. I’m so glad the surgery went well. The pain will go away soon, be patient dear. I’m happy he is on his way to a healthier life.
Lord let your rest come to Asher. Give him your peace and give the doctors, nurses, and mommy and daddy wisdom to know how to help him get comfortable. Ease Heather’s heart and give her something she can DO to help her boy. Continue to show her your hand in everything here and thank you for all the blessings so far. Amen.
Big big hugs to you!
It makes perfect sense that you would be agitated like your little one. We end up having a “bluetooth” kind of connection with our kids that nobody else seems to understand. I’ll bet he konks out soon and then you can rest too. Been thinking about you all day. Warm wishes.
Thanks for the update Heather… I will keep praying for little miracles. :)
Take Care, you sweet girl you and your beautiful family, and sleep well little Asher… sleep well.
Thinking of you…
HUGS!
I’m sorry he’s struggling with sleep but SOO SOO very glad to hear he came through the surgery well and he will be getting better and headache free! Sending all my good thoughts and many hugs.
I know exactly how hard it is when they’re in the hospital hurting and there’s just nothing else you can do except be there and hold them. I think it might even be harder on the mommies than it is for the kiddos. Hang in there.
Still thinking of you all and praying for a good, restful night with fast healing.
SO glad to hear his surgery went well. Hopefully it's all downhill from here. For five years, at least…
Hopefully he's resting peacfully as I type this…and so are you.
Bloggy Kisses & Hugs.
Yayyyyyyyyyy!! I just got home from my book sale and the first thing I did (after shooing people out of my way) was to check on Asher. So relieved!
This is my first time here, but I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for Asher and for you all during his recovery.
*see you soon*
Praying you All get a good nights sleep and the morning comes with sunshine and new beginnings.
Love & (((HUGS))), Whitney
I pray that he slept – and that you did too!
Watching your child’s pain is the worst pain a mother can feel.
I haven’t been on all day to see your updates. I am still keeping Asher in my thoughts and prayers, and I pray that his recovery will be quick. ((hugs))…I was a wreck when my daughter had to go under general anesthesia for dental work, I can’t imagine having it be something like this.
Prayers from the PNW!!
I stumbled on your blog through a twitter from AMomofTwoBoys. I just wanted to say that my twin boys both have shunts for hydro-one has one shunt, and my oldest twin has two shunts. If you’d like to talk to someone who has been there, check out my blog and email. (If you’d like to find the posts, surgery was in Dec. 07 when they were four weeks old for both boys, the second shunt was placed over March – May. Long story.) I wish Asher a speedy recovery. You’ll be amazed at how quickly they are up and ready to play!
Praying praying praying my friend!
Sending thoughts and prayers for healing.
I’m praying for Asher and sending big ol’ HUGS right now!!!!!
so glad to hear that Asher came through the surgery fine, we’re trusting God with you for the rest of those miracles you’re needing!
I just happened upon your blog today! I will be praying for Asher and the rest of you. I’ve gone through neurosurgery myself, then my dad had the same surgery a year later. Chances are my little one will have to have it at some point in her life. It never bothered me when it was me, but the thought of her facing it absolutely terrifies me. So my prayers are with you that God will give you an awesome amount of peace during this time!
We will be praying for your little guy.
So grateful you’re able to see blessings — and even miracles — in the midst of the struggles. You must be exhausted. I’ll pray for your continued strength. And for some peace.
