Miles was eating breakfast at the counter while I did all
kinds of things in the kitchen. He said, Grown ups are way busier than kids…especially you, you are the busiest grown up. I told him that I’m sure there are people busier than I am and he said, No. Because you have to
feed Elsie…
and put her to bed…
and make us food
and make your own
food
and make Asher finish his food
because he doesn’t,
and drive me to school
and that’s 7 things
OH! And what am I forgetting…
You also give us stars (referring to the stars they earn for doing things)
and you give Elsie a bath
and you give US a bath…
THAT’S TEN THINGS!!! See? You are the busiest!
So. According to my six-year-old, I do ten things (maybe his counting is a little off) and all but one of them are for my children.
This is Motherhood Math at its best.
Now excuse me, I have to get back to being the busiest person on the planet…

Wait! You also take gorgeous pictures of your gorgeous children. That’s 11 things. See – you are the busiest person in the world. xo
He is a genius – moms are the busiest people on the planet :)
That is seriously the cutest post ever…what a wise, mathematically talented little guy!
I love that! And love keeping close the things little guys say :)
This made me smile!
You go, busy mama!
At least he notices that you do things! Seth tells me I am lazy. yeah, he is awesome like that.
Oh, and if you move to Austin, tell Miles he needs to teach Seth how to recognize that his Mama does LOTS.
(looking around at my clean house…)
Well at least someone noticed how much you work your butt off…am I right?
Kids crack me up.
I think he is a genius for figuring this out. Perhaps a raise is in order for Mama???
Yes. I’m thinking his math is off, but …. I think he gets the overall picture. :))
Have fun being the busiest girl on the planet. I hope to come back next Tuesday for “Just Write.”
Oh, how I love this! So glad you found time to share during your busy day :-).
Oh my, that math is good. And important. And lovely. xo
LOVE the way your kid thinks. Math genius, clearly! Beautiful post, as always.
Oh…I love this!!! Just love it!!!
This needs to be framed and put in a most special place…..reading it warmed my heart!!
Ah, don’t you love those moments when one of your kid just melts your heart? I loved reading about this kind of math. And your photos are perfect.
Only 6 years old, but the boy totally GETS IT. You have a genius on your hands. And also? You are pretty duggum smart yourself (not to mention BUSY!)
XO
Jo
I would have to file this under the “Oh the things they say” archives.
His math and your photos are both precious.
Those melt your heart moments like this are what mother’s rely on to get through the other million break your heart and your sanity moments.
Gosh that’s cute. Sweet boy.
I think you are going to be really glad you wrote this down because it is just adorable. And I’m also glad that your day seems like it’s 80% kitchen related – because sometimes I feel like the only one!
Love this! Love you!
Aw how adorably perfect of him to recognize how hard you work for them!
