I mean, if you live somewhere near Lexington, Kentucky. Do you? We’d love to see you if you do! If you don’t, we’d love to come and see you as well, but this time, we’re headed to Kentucky, ya’ll!
On August 10th and 11th, Ellie and I will be attending the St.Agnes House fundraising event(s) in Lexington, Kentucky. We are so honored to have been asked to be keynote speakers for this event that supports a cause close to both of our hearts. St.Agnes house is a place for patients and/or their families to stay while in Lexington for cancer treatment or any kind of long-term care (NICU, transplant patients, etc.). Many of these people have to come from far and wide to get the care they need and St. Agnes does the job of extending not only hospitality but grace and love. St. Agnes is a community, drawing people with similar stories to sit together, to bear witness and to support each other in a way that can only exist within a hearty, “Me too”. If people have to be away from home while seeking medical treatment, they find solace in sharing space with those in their same shoes.
As many of you know, Ellie spent the last year fighting throat cancer and is currently in remission. (Thank God!) Obviously, she understands the pain of this disease and can’t imagine not being at home during the difficult treatments. We are both crazy excited to help raise money so this much-needed safe haven can continue to serve its people at only ten dollars a night. (St Agnes is also within walking distance of one of the five hospitals in Lexington.)
30.00 provides a weekend stay
70.00 provides a week stay
5.00 makes a difference
Because not everyone lives near Lexington to be able to make it to the event, St. Agnes is making it possible for you to donate easily through their site. (When you arrive, to enter the site, you simply click on what kind of device you’re currently using.) As always, any amount helps, and our desire in working with St. Agnes is to make a miraculous impact on their resources. That’s not because Ellie and I are some kind of mega bloggers, but we know our readers are some of the most supportive and caring people on the Internets. We’re reaching out to you now to assist us in this heart endeavor, to make a little difference so it can multiply in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Isn’t that what we’re here for? Love in small things. A place like St. Agnes relies on that because they’re supported by donations. (There is an easy-to-use and safe donation button on the St. Agnes page.)
If you take a look at this event–A Beautiful Mess— and find you want to drive on over to Lexington to attend, I will probably do a happy dance FOR you in person. It won’t be pretty, but I’ll do it. I seriously love meeting people who have happened upon this little corner of the Internets in person. So please let me know if you can make it! (Click on A Beautiful Mess above for more information and to register!)
So there you have it, friends. Ellie and I are speaking in Kentucky and we wish every last one of you could come! We’ll be reading some posts, sharing our friendship story and much more. We hope to see some of you there! If you have any questions, email me or leave a comment, okay? heatheroftheeo at gmail dot com
Peace.
