Dan Zanes and friends – The Fine Friends Are Here – A Giveaway

December 5, 2009

Saturday~December 5, 2009

Yes, you’re right. This is my second post in one day. I’ve decided I need cheering up. Would you believe I have both H1N1 AND bronchitis? It’s not super fun. But giving something away IS super fun, so that’s what I’m going to do for the cheering up.

You know Dan Zanes and friends, right?

When I was contacted about reviewing this 2 disc combo, The Fine Friends Are Here I was more than happy to do so, since I’m already a huge fan. This combo comes with a 16 song DVD and a bonus audio CD with 5 songs. (The bonus 5 song CD is perfect for playing in a child’s room at bedtime. It’s soft and beautiful, the perfect peaceful night time groove.)

Dan Zanes and friends are such a talented group, I’m not sure there’s an instrument they don’t play. (I’ll also admit that they make me feel like I could dance around in a flowy dress any old way I’d like to dance and still feel cool.)

What I love most about this band and their music is that it’s all about expression, being yourself, and having a great time.

There is something so unique and intriguing about the way this DVD was shot, with lighting and colors that capture. You feel like you’re right there in front of the stage, dancing in the costume clad crowd. This DVD keeps the attention of even my boys, and I could really use that right now while I cough in bed and they dance around, making me feel all happy.

I love to see my boys enthralled with good music, and that’s exactly what they get when they watch this DVD. I love that a band on a stage can deliver such a performance with so much variety, from style of music, to the flow from Spanish to English, to the myriad of instruments used. It’s so much fun to watch, a truly eclectic experience filled with inspiration and joy.

So get out your crazy thrift shop costumes and dance along!

I have an extra copy of The Fine Friends Are Here with bonus CD to give to one of you. Just in time for the holidays! All you have to do is leave a comment, any comment.

If you aren’t a blogger and don’t know how to comment, it’s easy and safe. Simply click on ‘comments’ at the end of this post, then click ‘Anonymous’ and leave your name and email address so I can contact you if you win.

I will choose a winner on Monday, 9pm (CST) and announce the winner in Tuesday’s post.
(This giveaway is not limited to the U.S.)

Good luck!

(I was not paid for this review, but I was sent one copy to review and one to give away at no charge for taking the time to write this review. The End.)

“True children’s music, but executed with such sweet (and un-gooey!) humor, casual multiculturalism and shambling groove that you can call it your own.”

I'm so sorry about bronchitis and H1N1. I have H1N1 and pneumonia if it makes you feel better. =[ We can be sick together.

Gotta love good music, huh?

That Girl December 5, 2009 at 4:10 pm

Sign me up for one – and you for lots of chicken soup, tissues and down comforters. And perhaps some baby-sitters, so you can spend all day watching movies in bed. As you should.

Shana December 5, 2009 at 4:29 pm

You are not having a good time these days, are you?!? I hope you find yourself up and at 'em soon! In the meantime rest up and take care of yourself!

(And thanks for this great giveaway opportunity!)

I'm just impressed that you are blogging with H1N1 and bronchitis. Now to bed with you and let the comments roll in! :)

Kelly @ Love Well December 5, 2009 at 10:36 pm

I feel the same way about Dan Zane. He just makes me happy. I couldn't resist watching EVERY VIDEO that Noggin ever produced. Every time they came on.

I'm so sorry you're so sick — and now the kids! Oy! Do you need soup? I was right by your it's-still-Heathers-house-for-now today.

Less Toil Traci December 5, 2009 at 11:16 pm

Oh no! We had the H1N1 in October…stunk. We were out for 20 days! Didn't go ANYWHERE. I shouldn't tell you that right now, should I? Here's hoping that no one else gets it and you get better very fast. This is not what you need when you are moving in like 3 weeks, is it? So sorry.

ps I would love to win!

wendy December 5, 2009 at 11:27 pm

WHAT you have H1N1. Oh no. I hope you will be ok soon. Put some garlic around your neck (oh wait, I may be mixed up here)
Hubby and I went and got our H1N1 shots and boy did our arms hurt for the day and night –REALLY

Please get well soon so you can enjoy the Christmas season
and quit hanging around with pigs

Mammatalk December 5, 2009 at 11:35 pm

Feel better! Take care of yourself!

TKW December 6, 2009 at 2:07 am

Fuckitall, you have BOTH H1N1 and Bronchitis? And you still are in the giving frame of mind? Oh, you are good.

I love Zanes, except there's one song a few years ago I was tempted to murder him for…something about chickens wandering around?

Mandy December 6, 2009 at 2:09 am

Oh my goodness! My 3 year old son had H1N1 about a month ago and he was MISERABLE. I am so sorry to hear that you have it!

The Marketing Mama December 6, 2009 at 2:25 am

I'm so sorry to hear you are sick. My littlest one has h1n1 right now and it's freaking me out. :( Hope you feel better very soon. I can see it's not keeping you away from blogging, so that's a good sign!

Lee of MWOB December 6, 2009 at 2:57 am

Dan Zanes. We dig him in our house. One of the first kids' CDs that my husband and I liked just as much as they did.

I'm in but if I don't win, sounds like an awesome stocking stuffer!

Feel better Heather. Oh geez…..

LisAway December 6, 2009 at 3:16 am

The DVD sounds awesome. The illness sounds quite the opposite. Sheesh. I hope you can get lots of rest and your poor throat and lungs heal quickly. And everything else, too.

5thsister December 6, 2009 at 5:50 am

Oh Heather. I'm sorry you were ailing! The H1N1 has been particularly vicious down here. Every weekend I work it seems another young victim goes "bad" and requires intensive care. It makes me cry but I'm glad I'm there to help. Fortunately, my latest patient seems to have gotten the necessary care before requiring a ventilator. Nasty, nasty virus!

Debbie December 6, 2009 at 8:39 am

Girlfriend! I can't believe you have been sick for over a week and now the double whammy! I just have some sort of sinus infection but I'm feeling so sorry for myself. The wasted time is such a problem this time of year.
I sure hope you feel better soon!

Danielle K December 6, 2009 at 8:54 am

Sorry to hear about your illnesses. Yuck! I would love to win a copy for my 2.5 year old daughter. She loves music and dancing!

Post-Modern Jen December 6, 2009 at 9:16 am

My 3 yr old daughter and 1 yr old son will both love this! Thanks for the giveaway.

Eva Gallant December 6, 2009 at 9:58 am

I sure hope you feel better soon! I just stopped in from SITS to say hi; hope you'll do the same!

Hollywood Farm Films December 6, 2009 at 11:26 am

I discovered Dan Zanes 6 years ago when my oldest Little was born. After starting mommy-hood the second time around with a 16 year gap between the last one, I couldn't bare to listen to another version of "wheels on the bus" or anything related to Barney….YUCK RASHVILLE!

Dan Zanes was a welcome change and we bought every single CD produced. Then I gave them all away to share the music. I am so sad to not have them anymore but will start my collection again. My 3 Littles still sing the numbers son, "One and 20, 2 and 20, 3,and ,4 and 5 and 6 and 20…27,28,29,30! As well as, 'All Around The Kitchen, Cock-a- DOODLE DOODLE DOO!" That's my fave!!! DAN ZANE RULES!! And he's a little bit hot too, right?

Fresh Mommy December 6, 2009 at 11:28 am

Oh goodness, hope you feel better soon!! That doesn't sound like fun at all!!!

Rachel December 6, 2009 at 12:15 pm

Oh! No! I hope you feel better, Heather. Hang in there! Thanks for the music tip…I am looking for some new music for the boys.

Hope you feel better soon!

Mama B December 7, 2009 at 6:05 pm

We love Dan Zanes. Admit-tingly me more than the kids, but until they start driving themselves around town I still get dibs on the CD player!

Rebecca December 7, 2009 at 10:47 pm

H1N1 AND Bronchitis – surely those two should be mutually exclusive! Hope you are feeling better soon!
