Just Write {18}

January 16, 2012

I came across this:

No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you’re the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside.

ba boom ba boom ba boom…

I guess I’d change that to, you’re one of the only ones who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside. Since there are three children that have been there. Putting it that way makes three sound like not very many at all. Just three people, the only ones who will ever know my heart this way. Only three, on all the planet in all my days.

So I have three to think of, as I sit here and listen to their sounds all around me. The boys discussing a made-up game of cars that race in just this way and in just this time. And Elsie rolling around me in her little baby walker, garbly-gooking her infant language. I think of them all the time, if I can hear them or not and my anxiety wants me to believe it’s all too much. Too much to do, to much to say, too much to stay awake for, to much to do.

But there are only three. Even when there is too much, there are just these few. These few are the only ones and I can’t try to describe the strength of this love ever again without thinking of my heart beating for them now and back inside. They are the only ones that know and I want to keep telling them and that’s enough.

ba boom ba boom ba boom…

This is the 18th installment of Just Write, an exercise in free writing your ordinary and extraordinary moments. {Please see the details here.}  I would love to read your freely written words so join me and link up below. You can add the url of your post at any time. Just be sure it’s a link to your Just Write post, not to your main page. There are really no rules, besides Just Write! Also. Please take a moment to visit someone else who has linked up! It’s a really good way to meet new writers and get inspired by the meaning behind their moments. Word?

Tears of wonder and tears of joy for those that I hold in my arms.
But also bittersweet tears of grief for the ones that heard my heart, but I never heard theirs.

Peace to you, Mama.

So sorry! When I tried to upload my image, it kept saying it wasn’t uploaded. Now I just checked and I uploaded a gazillion images. Ah! I hope you can delete them on your end!

I don’t know why this has never occurred to me before. What an amazing image.
There are only three who know my heart from the inside too.

Love you!

I saw that quote on Pinterest and was literally floored … which says a lot because I’ve seen and heard a lot in life. So. Deeply. Moving. I have twins and to think that they are the only ones that know the sound of my heartbeat from the inside … just amazing. Love your post. Thanks for hosting. I just found this project yesterday (newish to blogging, again) and HAD to participate. I was inspired … happy to be here.

I love the idea. Of course, in my case only two know that sound but four have my heart. But yes, when I say it that way four does not seem like so many. Just four. I like that. Thanks!

I really like the quote. Our children are such miracles and it’s good to have the reminder in the midst of the daily chaos. So thank you for that.

Jenn January 17, 2012 at 6:02 pm

That is beautiful – and so true, my children have a part of my heart with them forever.

Gianna January 17, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Oh, that is so cool!
And beautiful!
And so much more meaningful than I can express!
